China assures commitment to train Fiji Police

Update: 4:21PM THE Republic of China has assured its commitment to assist the Fiji Police Force in the training of its officers.

This after China's representative to Fiji Ambassador Qian Bo paid a courtesy call to Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho in Suva today.

Mr Qiliho said Fiji treasured and continued to value the relationship with China.

He said the Fiji Police Force had not only benefitted greatly from the cooperation but they continued to work closely with the Ministry of Public Security in areas of police cooperation.

An issue discussed was the specialised training of Fijian police officers in the area of narcotics.

Mr Bo was accorded a quarter guard as well as a traditional welcome ceremony by members of the Fiji Police Force.
