Update: 1:20PM OPPOSITION Member of Parliament Parmod Chand will not be charged for an alleged case of sedition.

A statement issued by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution said DPP Christopher Pryde had decided that no charges would be laid against Mr Chand.

There is insufficient reliable evidence to support any criminal charges against Mr Chand and, therefore, the docket has been returned to Police, Mr Pryde said.

Mr Chand was arrested by Police and interviewed under caution on December 8 last year on suspicion of committing seditious offences.

He is alleged to have made seditious comments at a shop in Delailabasa on August 14 last year.
