A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LAND AREAS OF YASAWA AND MAMANUCA GROUP, VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS AND LAU GROUP. A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR YASAWA AND MAMANUCA GROUP, NORTHERN AND WESTERN VITI LEVU, VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS, LOMAIVITI, KADAVU AND LAU GROUP. A HEAVY RAIN ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE REST OF FIJI.

A FLOOD ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE LOW LYING AREAS AND SMALL STREAMS FOR VANUA LEVU, NORTHERN AND WESTERN PARTS OF VITI LEVU.

Situation: A dominant moist northwesterly wind flow prevails over Fiji with the trough of low pressure just to the west of the country. Meanwhile Tropical Depression 08F lies slow moving just to the south of Fiji and is moving south away from the group. Another significant tropical disturbance, TD07F, currently to the far west northwest of Fiji near Vanuatu, is expected to move towards Fiji and gradually intensify into a tropical depression and possibly affect the group from today.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group: For Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands and Lau and Lomaivit group: Strong northwesterly winds with speeds of 40km/hr to 50km/hr gusting to 65km/hr. Periods of rain, heavy times and squally thunderstorms. Rough seas.

For the Rest of Fiji: Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms over northern and western Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Elsewhere, afternoon or evening showers. Isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms expected. Showers possibly increasing to rain tomorrow. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas. Moderate to fresh northwest winds, gusty at times. Moderate to rough seas.

Outlook for Friday : Periods of rain and thunderstorms over most places. Northwesterly winds 40km/hr to 50km/hr gusting to 65km/hr.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori : Afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms. Isolated heavy falls expected. Showers possibly increasing to rain tomorrow. Outlook for Friday : Occasional rain and few thunderstorms.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba : Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms. Outlook for Friday : Periods of rain and thunderstorms.

For Labasa : Periods of rain, heavy times and squally thunderstorms. Northwesterly winds 40km/hr to 50km/hr gusting to 65km/hr Outlook for Friday : Periods of rain and thunderstorms. Northwesterly winds 40km/hr to 50km/hr gusting to 65km/hr.

For Savusavu : Periods of rain, heavy times and squally thunderstorms. Northwesterly winds 40km/hr to 50km/hr gusting to 65km/hr. Outlook for Friday : Periods of rain and thunderstorms. Northwesterly winds 40km/hr to 50km/hr gusting to 65km/hr

For Rotuma : A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR ROTUMA LAND AREA AND WATERS.

Situation: An active trough of low pressure with associated rain and thunderstorms affects Rotuma. Over Land: North to northwest winds 40 km/hr to 55 km/hr, gusting to 70km/hr.

Over Waters: North to northwest winds 20 to 30 knots, gusting to 35 knots. Rough to very rough seas. Moderate northerly swells Periods of heavy rain and squally thunderstorms.

Outlook for Friday : Rain and thunderstorms continuing.

A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR VANUA LEVU AND LAU WATERS, KORO SEA, YASAWA AND MAMANUCA WATERS, VATU-I-RA AND KADAVU PASSAGES.

Situation: A dominant moist northwesterly wind flow prevails over Fiji with the trough of low pressure just to the west of the country. Meanwhile Tropical Depression 08F lies just to the south of Fiji and is moving south away from the group. Rough to very rough seas. Moderate northerly swells. Poor visibility in areas of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Further outlook: West to northwesterly winds 20 to 30 knots gusting to 35knots. Rough to very rough seas. Moderate northwesterly swells.

For the rest of Fiji Waters: Southwest to northwesterly winds 15 to 20 knots. Winds gusty at times. Moderate to rough seas. Moderate northerly swells. Poor visibility in areas of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Further outlook: West to northwest winds 15 to 20 knots, gusty at times. Moderate to rough seas. Moderate northerly swells.
