BALLENTINE Memorial School 200 metres sprinter Temalesi Niuvou hopes to stamp her mark when she participates in her first zone competition.

The Vutia, Rewa lass was emotional when she crossed the finish line to win the finals for the junior girls 200m.

"It is a whole new atmosphere coming from primary school and joining secondary school," she said.

"To run on the tracks is something that I will cherish all my life.

"Back at home we always run on the grass, but when I joined BMS and to participate in my first ever inter-house, its is a culture shock for me with how the tracks feel, the stadium and most of all, the view. That didn't stop me from achieving my goal and that is to win my first medal.

"I know I will be up against some top athletes from other schools, but when your heart is willing, you can achieve anything."

The 14-year-old ran in the 200m and also her house's 4x100m relay team to help her house win the inter-house.

Niuvou said she was adapting to her new school.
