Ba golf surprise

TEAM Foodhall won the Sigatoka Motor Spares four player Ambrose event at the Fiji Sugar Corporation Rarawai course.

Foodhall comprising of Melvin Chand, Freddy Mua, Salman Khan and Joe Druna took out the first spot. The side proved to be the surprise package in the tournament with Melvin, Freddy and Salman competing at the FSC Rarawai course for the first time.

Team Bomco Two was the runner-up.

Former Ba Open champion Lotawa Delana guided Team Bomco Two which had the services of Mitilesh Nand, Kamleshwar Nand and Manieta Delana.

Favourites Team Bomco One finished third. Skippered by professional Vikrant Chandra, the side edged New Delhi Electrical on a countback.

Bomco One had veteren golfer Rajesh Singh and Manish Patel.

New Delhi Electrical comprised of Rohit Chandra, Pradeep Chandra and Penang golfer Ashish Kumar.

Ba Golf Club executive Rajesh Prasad said about 10 teams entered the one-day event.

"We had players all the way from Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka and Rakiraki," Prasad said.

"The main motive of this event was to kick start the club's competition on a high note with the introduction of new golfers.

"We had a total of eight new golfers, hitting the balls for the first time.

"Three of them have already promised sponsorships for this year. So I believe our membership drive was a success."
