SOCCER giant Ba has appointed three captains to lead the team for this year's Oceania Champions League as half of the team departed for Vanuatu yesterday.

National rep Laisenia Raura, Abbu Zahid and striker Samuela Nabenia have been selected to lead the men-in-black in the campaign.

Team manager Arvind Singh who will be leading the second half of the team to Vanuatu tomorrow said the side had set its focus on the first game against Nalkutan FC this Saturday.

He said the team for the first pool game would be led by Raura while Zahid and Nabenia to captain the second and the third games respectively.

"We received half of the tickets yesterday where we have sent our first batch of players," said Singh.

"We are looking forward to our first game on Saturday and we are confident that Raura will lead by example. The three captains know the requirements and the expectation bestowed upon them and the boys are eager to stamp their mark during the competition."

Singh said the three overseas-based players, Amal Singh, Nathan Brown and Troy Watson, had adapted well to the team environment.

He said the players had been urged to play as a team and to give their best in all the games.

"We have prepared well and we are delighted to be joined by the three overseas boys. Our aim is to start well and we are confident of our chances. But again we expect a tough game from our opposition and the players are looking forward to their first game."

Singh said the side also presented their i-tatau to the Tui Ba at Sorokoba Village on Wednesday.
