CRUSADERS duo Jone Macilai and Manasa Mataele will be part of the Brisbane 10s in Australia this week.

They were named in the 21-member squad by Crusaders head coach Scott Robertson yesterday.

Mataele is among the four players who competed in the tournament last year.

The team is in Pool C with Fiji, Hurricanes and Brumbies.

The tournament will be the first taste of 10s rugby for most members of the squad, with George Bridge, Mataele and Andrew Makalio returning from last year's side that finished as beaten finalists. Bridge, 22, is the captain.

"It's awesome to be heading to Brisbane once again for the 10s, and what will be our second pre-season hit-out for 2018," Robertson told

"Last year's tournament provided some valuable lessons for us leading into the start of the Super Rugby season, and I'm confident we have a side full of exciting young talent who will be keen to showcase their skills against some quality opposition," Robertson said.

The Crusaders meet Fiji in their final pool match on Saturday afternoon.

BNZ Crusaders squad: Andrew Makalio, Billy Harmon, Ethan Blackadder, Tom Christie, Jordan Manihera, Hamish Dalzell, Heiden Bedwell-Curtis, Ben Morris, Dylan Nel, Harrison Allen, Nathan Vella, Macilai, Bridge ©, Mataele, Braydon Ennor, Jack Stratton, Zach McKay, Brett Cameron, Tima Faingaanuku, Ngane Punivai, Richard Judd.
