Littering 'a major concern'

Vilimaina Naqelevuki

LITTERING has become a major concern for the Lautok City Council. And by littering, the council believes people in Lautoka lack civic pride.

Council chief executive officer Jone Nakauvadra said they had taken the responsibility and called upon different stakeholders to work with the council to address the littering problem.

"With responsibility, we've called upon stakeholders, particularly the citizens, to come forward and work with the council — with each respective municipal council who will try to minimise the litter problem," Mr Nakauvadra said.

The Lautoka City Council will continue to run its quarterly clean-up campaign and Mr Nakauvadra said they would play their part in keeping the city clean.

He has requested citizens to work with their respective councils during the clean-up campaigns.

"We are having this quarterly clean-up campaign that will be ongoing throughout this month, we will continue to play our part in keeping our city clean and we want to work with different stakeholders on this matter," he said.
