ABOUT 40 children and six teachers at Delaiverata District School on Matuku island in Lau will benefit from supplies gifted to them by the Hope for a Village Fiji organisation in Australia.

Raviravi villager on Matuku, Sekope Bolakivei said the assistance was made possible through Kim Slater from Australia.

Mr Bolakivei said the assistance would help the school provide better services to students and teachers.

"The assistance includes five desks, four benches, 12 chairs, 13 mattresses, one gas stove, a gas cylinder and some food supplies," Mr Bolakivei said.

"We are grateful for this assistance and its a welcome relief for the teachers knowing they will be receiving this assistance."

He said this was the first time the organisation was helping the people of Matuku and it had come at an opportune time with the new school year just started.

He said the items were valued about $5000.

The Hope for a Village Fiji organisation has in the past assisted schools and villagers in the Nadroga Province.
