NAITASIRI halfback Frank Lomani says the national side for the Brisbane Global 10s this weekend, has drawn inspiration from the Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team.

Lomani said they watched the Fiji 7s team win at the Hamilton 7s in New Zealand last Sunday.

"If the 7s team can do it then we can do it as well," Lomani said.

"We watched our 7s team during the Hamilton 7s and the team had stepped up from the Sydney 7s.

"We have talked about stepping up on our performance. There needs to be more 10s tournaments in the country in preparation for the Skipper Cup."

The Fiji 10s team departed for Australia yesterday with an extended squad which will play the Queensland Reds in a warm-up game next week.

"The focus is to play well in the 15s game against the Reds," Lomani said.

"We need to perform to make it into the Flying Fijians team for the international matches.

"We have been in camp for three weeks and the boys are well-prepared to showcase their talents."
