Top sevens action

A marvellous job by the boys. I said in my letter last week that Fijians were never "new" sevens players. Nasoko's off-loads to Naduva twice in succession vindicated that theory.

Having watched three-in-a-row heart-stopping games from the quarters to the final, let's be reminded that Baber played no part in the victory apart from making substitutions that worked out right.

One hundred per cent credit to the boys. I believe Baber has yet to prove himself, and that he can do with consistency. This team can win in Hong Kong even without a coach.

Let's not get carried away from the big picture, i.e., Commonwealth Games, world cup and yes, HK.

We are waiting for a real impact from Baber. I am no rugby expert, however, the real experts out there will concur with me.

On the lighter side, God almost punished the team against Samoa because of me. I was streaming the game live on my phone while in church. One and a half minutes to go, Fiji trailing, and the service was over, even the closing prayer, everyone was getting up and out, and I kept glued to my screen, hooter gone, I got up, out of the door, still glued to the device, then Nasoko touches down after some confusing final moments. Thank God.

And thank you WAF for the amazing job during the water cut. It seems something has changed after a recent change at their helm.

I believe our sevens needs such a change for consistent performance.
