ELECTION officials, including venue queue controllers, inside queue controllers, identification officers, ballot paper issuers and ballot box guards will receive their contracts from March 5 to 16.

Fijian Elections Office acting director strategic development and communications Edwin Nand said 16,016 applications were received by the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) last month.

From this number, 4500 applicants were identified to undergo training as presiding officers and assistant presiding officers.

"We would like to request those chosen to attend the training to arrive at their venues on time so that there are no delays," Mr Nand said.

"In the coming weeks, the FEO will contact applicants who will be allocated training dates in weeks two and three of the program in their respective venues.

"Please note that not all applicants who attended the half-day training will be called in for these full one-day training.

"These sessions are only for Fijians who scored 85 per cent and above in their test and their assessment."

Mr Nand said FEO would publish the names of trainees on a weekly basis on their website and social media pages and venues would be made available through these channels.
