Team watches weather

THE monitoring team at the Commissioner Northern's office is working closely with stakeholders in keeping a tab on the inclement weather being experienced.

Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea said the team continued to send reports to the National Disaster Management headquarters in Suva. "Our advice remains the same for everyone in the North and our main concern is the safety of people," he said. "Right now we're still observing, we are working with the provincial council offices of Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata in monitoring the weather updates," he said.

Mr Vocea said the team would be in full operation once a state of emergency was declared.

The Fiji Roads Authority advised members of the public to take extra precaution while travelling because some roads in low-lying areas were still in danger of flooding as rain continued in parts of Fiji.

FRA advised people not to drive into water of unknown depth.

Some roads in the North were inaccessible by vehicle because of flooding.
