Cavuilati chosen to lead school

HIS mother's struggles and motivation in life only pushed newly-badged Ratu Kadavulevu School head prefect Ratu Venaia Cavuilati to perform well in school.

And Akisi Cavuilati was the proudest mum when her son was inducted as the head prefect for one of the largest boarding schools in Fiji.

Mrs Cavuilati said she was pleasently surprised and shocked when she was informed of her son's achievement.

"We did not believe it, for us it was impossible," she said.

"This is because he was not a prefect last year and he only entered the school in 2016 as a Year 11 student."

The 18-year-old echoed similar sentiments and said such things could only be achieved through God's guidance.

"For me, God and my mother have been my greatest motivators and she tells me everytime that my performance and action in school will reflect the kind of family I come from," Cavuilati said.

"With this in mind, I've always made sure to put God first because He directs and ensures that the path we take is right."

Hundreds of families and friends gathered at RKS yesterday to congratulate the 91 newly-inducted leaders of the school.
