Update: 6:02PM THE Navatukia Women's Group in Naitasiri now have a canteen project to assist in their villages' daily operations.

This was possible through a timely government assistance which came after the group made a request last year.

At the handover ceremony Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa reminded the villagers of the critical role that women play in any development, be it in the family, village or at national level.

Navatukia Women's Group president Asena Waco said they were very grateful for the provision of the canteen project which will benefit not only the 35 women who are members of the group but the village as a whole.

"Last year we assisted the community in purchasing corrugated roofing iron for our community hall and this is one of our major contributions to the community's development," Mrs Waco added.
