Truck to boost Lautoka's waste management efforts

Tuesday, February 06, 2018

Update: 3:41PM THE Lautoka City Council's (LCC) waste management efforts were boosted by the Japanese government yesterday with a grant of $161,009 to buy a five-tonne garbage truck.

LCC chief executive officer Jone Nakauvadra said the grant assistance compliments the Japanese government's promotion of proper solid waste management in all the councils.

"This compliments what they have been doing so far in terms of promotion of proper solid waste management in all the councils particularly for Lautoka City Council," Mr Nakauvadra said.

The new garbage truck will be used to improve waste management operations by providing an efficient, hazard free and timely waste collection service to the people of Lautoka City.

The grant contract was signed between Mr Nakauvadra and Ambassador of Japan to Fiji, Masahiro Omura in Suva.
