 A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS, KADAVU AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS, LAU AND YASAWA GROUP. A HEAVY RAIN ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE REST OF FIJI.

A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LAND AREAS OF VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS THE LAU GROUP AND IS NOW IN FORCE FOR KADAVU AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS. A FLOOD ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR ALL LOW LYING AREAS AND SMALL STREAMS FOR THE WHOLE OF FIJI.

Situation: A dominant moist northwesterly wind flow prevails over Fiji with the trough of low pressure just to the west of the country. Meanwhile Tropical Disturbance 08F was located about 21.3S 179.8W or about 130km west-southwest of Ono-i-lau at 3am. TD08F is moving south at about 10km/hr and is expected to continue moving south away from Fiji. Another significant tropical disturbance, TD07F, currently to the far northwest of Fiji, near Vanuatu, is expected to move towards Fiji, gradually intensify into a tropical depression, and possibly affect the group from Thursday

 Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group: For Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands and Northern Lau group: Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms. Localised heavy falls may lead to flooding of low lying areas.

Northwesterly winds 40km/hr to 50km/hr gusting to 65km/hr Rough to very rough seas. For Kadavu and Southern Lau group: Periods of rain with occasional heavy falls and squally thunderstorms. Rain expected to gradually ease from later today. Localised heavy falls may lead to flooding of low lying areas. Moderate to fresh west to northwest winds, gusty at times.

Northwesterly winds 40km/hr to 50km/hr gusting to 65km/hr For the rest of Fiji: Occasional showers about the western parts of Viti Levu and Mamanuca group, with afternoon or evening showers elsewhere. Isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms expected. Showers possibly increasing to rain from Wednesday Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas. Moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, gusty at times. Moderate to rough seas.

Outlook for Wednesday : Occasional rain and thunderstorms over most places.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori : Fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms. Isolated heavy falls expected. Outlook for Wednesday : Occasional rain and few thunderstorms.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba : Occasional showers. Isolated thunderstorms and heavy falls expected in the afternoon or evening. Outlook for Wednesday : Occasional rain and few thunderstorms.

For Labasa : Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms. Outlook for Wednesday : Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

For Savusavu : Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms. Outlook for Wednesday : Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

For Rotuma : A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LAND AREAS AND WATERS OF ROTUMA.

Situation: An active trough of low pressure with associated rain and thunderstorms affects Rotuma.

Over Land: North to northwest winds 40 km/hr to 55 km/hr, gusting to 70km/hr.

Over Waters: North to northwest winds 20 to 30 knots, gusting to 35 knots. Rough to very rough seas. Moderate northerly swells Periods of heavy rain and squally thunderstorms.

Outlook for Wednesday : Rain and thunderstorms continuing.

 A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR VANUA LEVU WATERS, LAU WATERS AND VATU-I-RA PASSAGE AND IS NOW IN FORCE FOR KORO SEA AND KADAVU PASSAGE.

 Situation: A dominant moist northwesterly wind flow prevails over Fiji with the trough of low pressure just to the west of the country. Meanwhile Tropical Disturbance 08F was located about 21.8S 179.7W or about 160km southwest of Ono-I-Lau at 6am this morning. TD08F is moving south-southeast at about 15km/hr and is expected to continue moving south away from Fiji.

Another significant tropical disturbance, TD07F, currently to the far northwest of Fiji, near Vanuatu, is expected to move towards Fiji, gradually intensify into a tropical depression, and possibly affect the group from Thursday Forecast to 6am tomorrow for Fiji waters: For Vanua Levu and Lau waters, Koro sea, Vatu-i-ra and Kadavu passages: Northwesterly winds 25 to 30 knots, gusting to 40 knots. Rough to very rough seas. Moderate northerly swells. Poor visibility in areas of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Further outlook: Northwesterly winds 25 to 30 knots. Rough to very rough seas. Moderate northwesterly swells.

For the rest of Fiji Waters: Northwesterly winds 15 to 20 knots. Winds gusty at times. Moderate to rough seas. Moderate northerly swells. Poor visibility in areas of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Further outlook: West to northwest winds 15 to 20 knots, gusty at times. Moderate to rough seas. Moderate norhterly swells.
