Sevens win

Wallace Samuels, Grantham Rd, Raiwai, Suva
Tuesday, February 06, 2018

First and foremost, I would like to congratulate our boys for the gallant effort they put in by winning the New Zealand 7s in Hamilton.

After our dismal performance the previous week, our boys were criticised on social media and in the newspapers, with calls to sack the coach, some to the extent of dropping certain players from the team.

Well our boys rose to the occasion and have shut the mouths of their critics with a splendid show of guts, determination, skill and showcasing the world the Fijian flair that we are renowned for.

What disgruntled fans failed to understand is we no longer dominate the sevens arena like before because other teams have improved immensely.

We do not have the finance and resources that other nations have, but what makes us stand out from the rest is our passion for the game.

As the saying goes, "we win some, we lose some".

All the best for Las Vegas boys.
