Nawaqavesi 7s to continue tradition

NAWAQAVESI 7s team, from Nokonoko Village in Ra hopes to continue to expose the players' talents during the Natakala 7s tournament in Nausori.

Coach Samu Nawai said the players, who were unemployed, participated in tournaments in their area.

They hoped that coming over to Nausori would be a good exposure for the players and would help them discover more of their talents.

"We have good players but the amount of talent we have in Fiji we just don't know how to utilise them and for my boys I keep encouraging them to keep playing hard," Nawai said.

"We are a village-based team and one of the problems we face is that we don't have a steady source of finance but we're grateful to our families for supporting us through fundraising drives for our fare, registration fees and accommodation.

"We hope that participating in this tournament will help our players realise that they should not stick to their own comfort zone and come and play against some top teams.
