FINALISTS in 10 out of 13 categories of the 2017 ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards have been announced.

In making the finalists known yesterday, ANZ FETA Trustee and Organising Committee chairperson Olivia Mavoa said they had received a number of impressive entries following on from the previous seasons, where initial scoring had been very close.

"Some categories have more than three finalists for site visits," Ms Mavoa said in a statement.

"The awards entries are assessed by an independent panel of judges who are made up of industry leaders and experts.

"We wish all our finalists the best of luck as we count down to the awards night Gala dinner at the Sheraton Fiji Resorts Denarau Convention Centre on Saturday February 17th."

Ms Mavoa also stated that the 2017 awards season saw the introduction of the online submissions process.

The finalists for the individual awards for the remaining three categories; Fiji Pride, Emerging Leader and Tourism Leader will be announced in the coming week while the recipient of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement and Visionary will be announced during the awards night on Saturday February 17.

This year's awards also see the introduction of a Hall of Fame award which will be presented to Likuliku Lagoon Resort as the first inductee to this prestigious recognition of consistent excellence.

The event is also expected to be a sea of blue and green in line with the theme "Sustaining our Resources".
