Four men in court over robberies

FOUR men charged with allegedly stealing assorted items from seven different homes in the Namadi Heights area in Suva have been given time until today to look for sureties by the Suva Magistrates Court.

Taxi driver Kolinio Namalo, Paula Tikotani, Jonacani Qalova and Asito Tusa are charged with one count of theft and one count of criminal intimidation. The four appeared before Magistrate Liyanage Wickramasekara yesterday and were told to get two sureties each with a surety bond each of $10,000. They have been ordered to report to their nearest police stations every Sunday.

Police prosecutor Priti Prasad filed full disclosures in court yesterday and also objected to bail for all on the grounds that they did not have fixed addresses.

Ms Prasad said apart from Mr Tikotani, the other three men had prior offences.

The four were intercepted by the Southern Division police taskforce team last Thursday. Mr Namalo, 35, was alleged to have been transporting the three suspects, two of whom were aged 19 years and 18 years respectively.
