Weather watch: Flooding warning remains for low lying areas

Update: 3:15PM A FLOOD alert remains in force for all low lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent to major rivers for the whole of Fiji.

The Special Weather Bulletin number 16 for floods issued from RSMC in NADI at 1:50pm today says a Tropical Disturbance (TD08F) with an associated active trough of low pressure remains slow moving over the Fiji group.

It's being accompanied by associated cloud and rain that will affect the country.

In the event of a flood, members of the public should take heed of the following advice:

  • Refrain from walking or driving through flood waters;
  • Practice caution when travelling  along hillsides or landslide-prone areas.
  • Parents and teachers are to ensure that infants and children do not play in flooded areas, drains, rivers, and other waterways.
  • Stay informed for regular updates on all media for further alerts or advisories from authorities;
