Ovalau children receive school stationeries

Update: 2:07PM THE children of Ovalau were encouraged to work hard to explore their potential and accomplish their dreams in the future.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa stressed this yesterday during her surprise visit to schools around the Island of Ovalau where she handed over school stationeries, bags, excercise books and reading materials to children needing the same. 

These children have been pre-identified by schools as those still in need of school supplies after the beginning of the new school year.

Mrs Vuniwaqa highlighted the many educational reforms brought in by Government to make education accessible to every Fijian child irrespective of his or her personal circumstances.

Included in the visit were Marist Convent School, Delana Primary School, St. James Primary School, Ratu Seru Primary School, Taviya Primary School, Rukuruku Primary School, Bureta District School, Visoto District School, Loreto Catholic Church and Levuka Public Primary School.

The school supplies, some purchased by the ministry and some donated by the Canterbury Bankstown Council were distributed in light of the high number of requests that were made to the Ministry by families to assist them prepare for the new school year.
