NATAKALA 7s tournament manager Sevuloni Bulicakau said the aim for hosting the 7s competition was to build a gym to cater for their youths.

Bulicakau said their aim was also to build a multipurpose court to help their men and women's teams prepare for any tournament.

"This is the first time for us to host a 7s tournament and we're happy with the teams that have registered. We were aiming for 24 teams but due to some pulling out in the last minute we managed to get 18 senior teams and 12 under-19 team," he said.

"The main prize still remains at $5000 for the cup winner and $2000 to the losing finalist and we have prizemoney for the other minor winners.

"This tournament is spearheaded by a former national representative Ratu Nemani Cavuilati and aims to help our youths in the village to excel in sport.

"The reason why we hosted this tournament apart from building a gym, we also wanted to help our youths in the Nausori corridor expose their talents and we're happy to have top teams like Police, Tabadamu and Yamacia present with us.

"These big teams can challenge our young players and help them build their potentials."

Bulicakau thanked their sponsors for helping them host a tournament.

"We're grateful to Ministry of Youth and Sports for coming on board to help us run this tournament also to Island Breeze representative Malakai Yamaivava for helping us."

Navunicakau won the under-19 grade defeating Congo Waimanu 19-0.

Tabadamu walked away with $5000 after defeating First Light Taveuni 26-21.
