MOBs share family spirit with students

AN initiative founded along the Marist Brothers values of family spirit have gone a long way for three schools that were severely devastated by Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Yesterday, members of the Marist Old Boys Lautoka chapter gave stationery to Teidamu Primary School, Vakabuli Primary School and Vitogo District School.

Teidamu Primary School manageress Selai Balenamacu said the school stationery came at an opportune time.

"On behalf of the teachers and students, I would like to say thank you for your donations," she said.

"Here we have parents struggling to provide for their children. Children are missing school because of no uniform, stationery and books."

MOB Lautoka vice-president Emmanuel Lalakato said the gift was a concerted effort.

"First, I would like to thank my fellow brothers and their families for agreeing to this worthy initiative," he said.

"One of the Marist values and pillars is family spirit — a spirit of Christian community and a readiness to work for the welfare of the total community, so we hope we have made a difference and have helped put smiles on the faces of children of these schools."

The school supplies were purchased through the MOB Lautoka's 2017 fundraising drives.
