A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR NORTHERN AND INTERIOR PARTS OF VITI LEVU AND VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS, KADAVU, LAU AND LOMAIVITI GROUP. A HEAVY RAIN ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE REST OF FIJI.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group: Occasional rain, heavy at times and few squally thunderstorms over Northern and interior parts of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Kadavu, Lau and Lomaiviti group. Elsewhere, occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms. Showers possibly increasing to rain and becoming frequent and heavy with squally thunderstorms from later today. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas. Moderate to fresh southwest to northerly winds, gusty at times. Moderate to rough seas.

Outlook for Sunday : Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms over most places.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori : Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms. Showers possibly increasing to rain and becoming frequent and heavy with squally thunderstorms from later today. Outlook for Sunday : Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba : Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms. Showers possibly increasing to rain and becoming frequent and heavy with squally thunderstorms from later today. Outlook for Sunday : Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

For Labasa : Occasional rain, heavy at times and few squally thunderstorms . Outlook for Sunday : Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

For Savusavu : Occasional rain, heavy at times and few squally thunderstorms . Outlook for Sunday : Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

For Rotuma : A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE LAND AREAS AND WATERS OF ROTUMA.

Situation: A trough of low pressure with associated rain and thunderstorms affects Rotuma.

Over Land: North to northwest winds 40 km/hr to 55 km/hr, gusty at times.

Over Waters: North to northwest winds 20 to 30 knots, gusty at times. Rough to very rough seas. Periods of rain and squally thunderstorms.

Outlook for Sunday : Rain and thunderstorms continuing.

A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR VANUA LEVU WATERS, NORTHERN LAU WATERS AND VATU-I-RA PASSAGE.

Situation: An active trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain remains slow moving over the Fiji group.

Forecast to 6am tomorrow for Fiji waters: For Vanua Levu waters, Northern Lau waters and Vatu-i-ra Passage: Northerly winds 20 to 30 knots. Rough to very rough seas. Moderate northwesterly swells. Poor visibility in areas of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Further outlook: Northerly winds 20 to 30 knots, gusting to 35 knots. Rough to very rough seas. Moderate northwesterly swells.

For the rest of Fiji Waters: Southwest to northerly winds 15 to 20 knots. Winds gusty at times. Moderate to rough seas. Moderate southeasterly swells. Poor visibility in areas of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Further outlook: Southwest to northerly winds 20 to 25 knots, gusty at times. Rough seas. Moderate southeasterly swells.
