Rugby boost

DUAL international Semi Radradra has no intention of returning to rugby league anytime soon after committing to rugby union until 2020 as he signed for French club Bordeaux Bègles and has also shown interest to represent the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians.

John McKee, the Flying Fijians head coach said he had met Radradra recently and was interested to consider him for the June international Tests.

"Semi has certainly been in very good form in France. I spoke to him during the November tour (last year). I will be travelling to Europe soon and I will be meeting him in Toulon at the end of February to outline our plans, if he continues his good form he is quite high on my list of players I'm considering for June," McKee said yesterday.

"In November he indicated to me that he was interested in talking about our plans for 2019. At the end of the day we want to pick the best team we can and the team will be picked on form. The best players will get selected and currently he is playing very well and we have got some other good players as well playing in those positions. I will be tracking his form very closely as I do for a lot of players overseas."

The June international sees Fiji playing against Georgia, Romania and Tonga.

Radradra will now become the seventh Fijian player in the Bordeaux squad which earlier this week also announced the signing of rugged Crusaders centre Seta Tamanivalu.

Other Fijian reps include Ben Volavola, Peni Ravai, Metuisela Talebula, Kitione Kamikamica and Apisai Naqaliva.

He will farewell his current Toulon club at the end of this season and will join Bordeaux in November where he has signed for two seasons.

Radradra, switched to rugby union and joined Toulon after featuring for the Paramatta Eels in the National Rugby League (NRL) and also played a few Tests for the Australian national side.
