WESTPAC Bank Fiji has yet again shown its support for the annual Women in Business (WIB) awards night as major sponsors of the event this year.

The bank on Thursday sealed the sponsorship deal; with WIB, a continuing partnership which has lasted for more than 15 years.

This has also seen its sponsorship support increasing to $75,000 for this year's WIB awards scheduled for May 4.

In signing the deal, Westpac Bank Fiji general manager Brett Hooker said they were honoured to be part of the awards since 2003 celebrating women from different sectors which contribute to the social and economic well-being of Fiji.

"The quality of applications and achievements of the women are absolutely remarkable every year, it becomes tougher and tougher for the judges to select winners for the different categories," Mr Hooker said.

"More and more women in Fiji are starting their own businesses and taking on careers which were predominantly purely male dominated."

Behind their sponsorship, Mr Hooker highlighted that Westpac as an organisation had always supported gender equality.

"In Westpac Fiji, 56 per cent of our employees are female and as an employer, Westpac empowers women to make confident career choices, by providing education, information and networking opportunities."

Mr Hooker also challenged women to take the bold move in submitting applications and nominations for the 2018 WIB awards.

"I take this opportunity to encourage the women of Fiji to never give up, believe in yourself, take on the challenge and just put in application," he said.

"It is my challenge to you all to take at least one application form and nominate that deserving someone that you think needs to be recognised for her achievements and success."

WIB president Dr Nur Bano Ali said with this year's awards night had been unanimously embraced and supported by its sponsors who had been there for a number of years.

"I want to say a big thank you to Westpac for continuing as the main sponsor for the awards at $75,000," Dr Ali said.

"Then of course all our sponsors from last year are continuing."

These sponsors are Framesoft, Aliz Pacific, Jewels of Fiji, Kriz Signs, Quality Print, Redbrick Laundry, Swire Shipping, Fastkill Pest Control, Motibhai, Professional Nails, Value City and Samsung.
