FOURTEEN-year-old Misa Cakacaka was hailed a hero by Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho for preventing an aggravated robbery.

The student of Bishop Kempthorne Primary School, on January 5 managed to fend off two masked men, who attempted to rob the cashier of a car wash in Tacirua.

Brig-Gen Qiliho said Misa was a living example of how people should act when they witness criminal activities taking place.

"To our young man here, thank you very much, you are very brave," Brig-Gen Qiliho said.

"You have proven to all of us that age and size of a person doesn't matter, when you put your heart and mind to doing something to keep people safe."

Brig-Gen Qiliho also thanked Sisa Kanaveilomani, a taxidriver of Tiko Kece Taxis who on December 1, last year witnessed a 22-year-old man driving a vehicle hit a young girl along Tacirua but did not stop.

Mr Kanaveilomani, however, gave chase and the man was later arrested.
