Returning ATS workers get pay

MORE than 200 workers of Air Terminal Services who were in a dispute for 35 days with management have finally received their dues.

The workers, who were not paid from December 16 last year, received their pay yesterday afternoon.

However, ATS Employees Trust secretary Vili Finau said the money came two weeks too late.

"They were supposed to be paid 48 hours after the Employment Tribunal ruling which expired last week on Monday at 1pm," he claimed.

He claimed the workers had been affected by the late payout because it had impacted on their financial obligations.

He said ATSET members had consulted their lawyers on the alleged breach by the company.

On Wednesday this week, Federated Airlines Staff Association president Vilikesa Naulumatua expressed disappointment over the management's inaction.

He claimed a meeting that was to have been held with the company did not eventuate.

Mr Naulumatua claimed he had written to acting ATS chief executive officer Hare Mani at the time and asked for management's position on the tribunal ruling.

The salary payout released yesterday afternoon was backdated to December 16, 2017.

Questions regarding the concerns raised by ATSET and FASA were sent to Mr Mani and ATS human resources manager Richard Donaldson yesterday and remained unanswered when this edition went to press yesterday.
