Sewing machines for Lovoni

Update: 5:39PM TWO-HUNDRED members of the Lovoni womens group in Ovalau now have the means to enhance their sewing skills and income generation after the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation handed over five sewing machines and one laptop to them yesterday.

While handing over the tools, Minister Mereiseini Vuniwaqa said  Government through the ministry had  set aside programs to assist women's groups around the country to engage in income-generating projects in order to help their communities

"The donation to the women's groups will help equip women with the skills and knowledge for economic independence and entrepreneurial empowerment," she said.

President of the Lovoni womens group Kuini Veremaibau acknowledged the contribution of the  Government towards the group.

The ministry also handed over some reading materials and  stationery to students in the area, which were provided to the ministry by donors from Australia.
