A WOMAN who was allegedly abducted and raped by a taxidriver in 2011 yesterday informed the court that the accused did not stop his car after he abducted her from Nasinu.

During cross examination by defence lawyer Lavinia David, the complainant said she had no choice but to oblige to what the accused commanded her.

She said she was scared of the accused because he had continuously threatened her with a knife.

The 33-year-old man pleaded not guilty to the charges of rape and abduction after it was read to him in court.

Umendra Kumar is standing trial before High Court judge Justice Riyaz Hamza.

Mr Kumar is charged with one count of abduction and three counts of rape.

It is alleged Mr Kumar abducted the 14-year-old girl from Nasinu between January 11 and January 13, 2014, and took her to Nadi, Lautoka and Rakiraki and raped her on three separate occasions.

The now 18-year-old victim could not hold back her emotions in court as she described what she went through.

She said she was scared to even make a call from her mobile phone or scream for help because the accused continuously told her that he would kill her if she tried to call for help.

The trial continues at the High Court in Suva today.
