Local wine training by industry leader

Thursday, February 01, 2018

Update: 5:21PM AN ORGANISATION deemed by some to be the worlds' largest global provider of qualifications in the wines and spirits trade will hold its fifth Fiji training programme next week.

The 2018 Wines and Spirits Educational Trust (WSET) Level 1 and 2 training will be held from the February 5-8 at the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa according to local importer Victoria Wines & Spirits.

The Suva based firm made the announcement today saying it was part of their commitment to the development of the hospitality  industry.

Victoria Wines director Kate Vusoniwailala said the provision of good food and beverage was fundamental to the health of the industry.

"In line with a commitment to developing wine appreciation and knowledge amongst its Wine Club of over 900 members, Victoria Wines has supported the provision of internationally recognized accreditation through the WSET," Ms Vusoniwailala said

"Bringing WSET to Fiji has been a major commitment of our Company over the past five years and illustrates our commitment to supporting the tourism and hospitality industry in the development and delivery of confident and competent wine skills by industry professionals."

Victoria Wines is synonymous with the high value beverages and the companys founder Liam Hindle was even recognized by the French Government with a Knighthood in 2003 making him a 'Chevalier de l'Ordre du Merite Agricole' because of work he had done to promote French wines in Fiji.

"The WSET certificates are the most widely accepted international measures of wine competence and a great stepping stone for the career wine waiter or sommelier - and even for the enthusiastic wine lover!" Mr Hindle said.
