A new start for Nadroga chambers

SEVENTEEN members from various sectors of the business community have moved a motion to revive and rename the Sigatoka Chamber of Commence.

The chamber had been ideal and now renamed the Nadroga Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The motion for revival was passed on January 21 this year.

Dr Raju has close links with Sigatoka and Dr Govind, the owner of Shalini Gardens and Hotel in Olosara was appointed interim chairman.

In a statement issued by the organisation, Dr Raju highlighted the mission, vision, aims and objectives of Nadroga Chambers of Commerce and Industry and how such it could contribute toward local and national economic growth, development, investments and productivity.

The statement said the interim committee would soon draw up a constitution and later organise the inaugural general meeting and the invitation would be extended to all the business houses in Nadroga to attend and formalise Nadroga Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Also present at the meeting was the vice-president of Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry Annemarie De Voss.

Other interim office bearers elected include vice-chairman Vijay Narayan of Sigatoka Electric and secretary/treasurer Dr Ashank Naidu, GP and five committee members Shanil Naidu (MD, True Blue Hotel), Sesha Reddy (businessman), Natwar Singh (businessman), Rajend Singh (businessman) and a lady member to be incorporated.
