FIJIANS living across New Zealand and some from across the world, are expected to spill into Hamilton this weekend to support the Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team.

The team under coach Gareth Baber continued their training at the Marist Rugby Club grounds in Hamilton yesterday.

They were joined from the sidelines by a big group of Fijians who are living in Hamilton. Some already on leave to watch and support the national heroes play and represent Fiji.

"This is our national team and we should support it," Hamilton Fijian community president Ravulolo Tagivetaua said.

He is from Bua and is the cousin of former national rep Sani Tagivetaua.

"The team has brought Fijians together here. There are a lot of Fijians here and there are some that we have not met. Through our rugby team, everyone will come together. This team has united Fijians here.

"We have prepared the Methodist Church Heaphy Terrace Hall in Hamilton to host Fijians all over New Zealand who will come to Hamilton this week. We support the team whether it loses or wins and everybody in Fiji should do so.

"We have spread the word for all Fijians to come and we have had responses from itaukesi our Fijians of Indian descendants and those who have parental links to Fiji. Hamilton Stadium will be billed with a sea of blue from Fiji fans because we are proud of our team," he said.

Children and parents watched the team train yesterday.
