THE Nadi Airport Golf Club will host the 2017 Club Championship this Saturday.

A new format for the tournament has been introduced because of the prolonged season.

A 27 holes stroke event will be played instead of the match play which used to be held previously.

The golfer with the best gross score will be declared the winner in each category.

Abid Hussain is the top seed in the A Grade. Hussain was in top form throughout last year claiming numerous titles.

He won the Nadi Open, Ba Open, Lautoka Open, Fiji Open amateur division, Fiji Amateur Championship, Eastern Amatuer Championship, Western Amateur Championship, Labasa Open and Vanua Levu Open titles. Veteran Ram Khelawan will pose a threat to Hussain.

The battle in the B Grade will be between Pranith Chand and Hamza Ali.

Arun Charan and Kamlesh Karan are the favourites for the C Grade title.

Nadi Airport Golf Club president Munesh Prasad thanked club member Mohammed Faiyaz of Property Destinations for sponsoring the event.

Prasad said this was their last tournament of the 2017 calendar.
