Weather watch: Heavy frequent rain from tonight

LICE MOVONO
Wednesday, January 31, 2018

Update: 4:14PM ANOTHER warning for heavy rain was issued from the Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre this afternoon further to that issued this morning.

The weather office forecasts that rain will become heavy and frequent from tonight with localised heavy falls, which could lead to flash flooding in low lying areas.

The warning is in force for Viti Levu, Vanua Levu and the following group of islands; Yasawa, Mamanuca, Lau and Lomaiviti.

The forecast for the country is for heavy occasional rain and a few thunderstorms.

This warning comes in light of the trough of low pressure that lies slow moving over the country, bringing with it associated clouds and rain.

The next special weather bulletin will be issued just before 6pm.
