YOUTHS are an integral part of a country's development process and for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, this year it has turned its focus on urban youths.

This was confirmed by the Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou, who said this year more emphasis would be placed on youths living in urban areas in the country.

"The ministry was concentrating on rural youths last year. This year the ministry will be concentrating on urban youths.

"All the urban areas will be covered like Labasa, Suva, Lautoka and Nausori," Mr Tuitubou said.

"We have started new programs with the Fiji Corrections Service. In sports, the ministry is working together with community policing and those involved in this."

Last year, the ministry in one of its programs provided assistance to youths in the country to find employment through its non-formal education (NFE) programs and training.

The training programs were conducted at Mataveikai Village and Nailuva in Ra.
