Leading Grammy award winners in history

It's a surprise that the superstars fans thought would be leading the pack of being the most Grammy award winners weren't. In fact, Beyoncé did not even make the Top five cut as expected.

According to WWW.GRAMMY.COM the power-couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z have each won more than 20 Grammy awards, however several musicians have earned more wins than them. Jay-Z is the leading nominee for this year's Grammy awards bagging eight nominees all together. Even if he wins all the categories he has been currently being nominated in, he still won't be able to top the list.

Georg Solti (31)

Having won 31 Grammys, Solti is still the man to beat, even though he died in 1997 at age 84. His career included more than 20 years as a musical director for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Quincy Jones (27)

Jones has won 27 Grammys and among them is the award for Album Of The Year for the Michael Jackson hit "Thriller". He co-founded the Qwest TV, which has been reported a jazz video-on-demand subscription service.

Alison Krauss (27)

Alison Krauss has been recognized as the female artist with the most Grammys and the female artist with the most awards in the Country Field. Krauss is currently being nominated for two awards; Best Country Solo Performance and Best American Roots Performance. The 46-year-old shares 14 of her win with her backing band, Union Station.

Pierre Boulez (26)

Boulez earned his Grammys by conducting the work renowned 20th century composers such as Bela Bartok, Alban Berg and Claude Debussy. He died at the age of 90 in 2016.

Vladimir Horowitz (25)

Horowitz died in 1989 when he was in his 80s. the world renowned piano player earned himself 25 Grammy awards.

Stevie Wonder (25)

Stevie Wonder is the only artist in Grammy history to win five or more awards on three separate nights. His career and Grammy history were celebrated on the television special, Stevie Wonder: Songs In The Key Of Life - An All Star Grammy Salute in 2015.

John Williams (23)

Williams has won awards for cinema soundtracks for classics such as Star Wars, Jaws and Schinder's List. Out of his 23 Grammy wins, he has earned 12 in the Music For Visual Media Field and six for his work on the Star Wars franchise.

Beyoncé (22)

Beyonce holds the second-most wins by a female artist and is tied with Adele at six for most Grammy wins in one night by female. Aside from her wins, Beyonce has earned herself 62 Grammy nominations - more than any other female artist.
