FRU likely to send in replacement

FIJI Rugby Union chief executive officer John O'Connor yesterday confirmed that some players, who would be replacing the injured Fiji Airways 7s players, are working on their New Zealand visas.

There is a possibility that the replacement players will be flown over in time for the Hamilton 7s in New Zealand this weekend.

This comes in the wake of injuries sustained by some players during the Sydney 7s tournament last weekend.

"They are working on their visa and we will give a confirmation tomorrow (today)," O'Connor said.

Utility player Sevuloni Mocenacagi was pulled out of the Sydney HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series cup quarter-final match against USA and is likely to be ruled out of the Hamilton tournament this week.

Gareth Baber's men are pooled with Sydney 7s champion Australia who topped Pool A alongside Wales and Spain.

They kick off their campaign against Wales at 11.36am on Saturday, before facing Spain at 3.02pm and Australia at 6.50pm.
