Hamilton 7s mission

Josefa Makaba In Sydney, Australia
Tuesday, January 30, 2018

AFTER another disappointing result of the Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team at the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in Sydney over the weekend, the Jerry Tuwai-captained side turned its focus on another mission at the Hamilton 7s tournament in New Zealand.

Fiji and Gareth Baber's men are pooled alongside Sydney 7s champion Australia who topped Pool A, Wales and Spain.

It has taken the Aussies six years to break a cup title drought with their hope for more World Series success.

In Pool B South Africa, who jumped ahead of New Zealand on the overall standings, will face tough competition from England, Russia and a team to be announced (TBA).

Host and the All Blacks Sevens team will face Argentina, France and Scotland in Pool C as New Zealand's Hamilton makes its debut on the world series circuit.

Interestingly to see the opening match on Saturday as the Gordon Tietjens-coached Samoa up against Kenya. USA leads Pool D who have Canada to complete their rounds.

The Hamilton 7s tournament is the fourth event of the 2017/18 world sevens series.
