Police unable to trace suspect

POLICE could not link a suspect to threats made against a woman on Facebook concerning pictures of her which he threatened to post on the social media site.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said they had responded to the concerns of Amanda Maharaj.

"She had gone to several other media outlets claiming inaction, but we have exhausted all avenues in explaining her case to her," Ms Naisoro said.

"She was advised on her report as cybercrime was unable to trace the IP address of the suspect. The person whom she suspects could not be linked in anyway."

Ms Maharaj expressed disappointment at the way police handled an alleged cyber bullying and sexual harassment case she reported last year.

She claimed she was sent pictures she believed were taken in 2013 through a fake profile on FB.

"This person sent me pictures of me in my bedroom when I lived in Nadi in 2013 and then threatened to leak those pictures if I did not give the person or persons nude pictures," the 30-year-old claimed.
