FHH improves road access

THE four years of struggle because of poor road conditions for farmers and villagers living and working along Naveiwalai Rd outside Nausori will now be a thing of the past, thanks to the recent upgrade carried out by Fulton Hogan Hiways.

FHH Rewa depot supervisor Ulaiasi Bolalailai said they had significantly improved access especially to cater for rainy weather.

He said FHH would grade and compact Naveiwalai Rd especially a two-kilometre section at the far end of the road that needs to be widened from three to five metres.

Mr Bolalailai also said the overgrown grass had not only narrowed the road, it had also made the section slippery and dangerous for vehicles during rainy weather.

"Farmers carry their produce from the end of the road for two kilometres before they can access a carrier or a 4-wheel drive to get to market," he said.

FHH is working closely with the Fiji Road Authority and has completed the drainage, removal of high shoulders and will continue to upgrade and provide road maintenance to roads in the Central and Northern divisions.
