POLICE are awaiting the recovery of alleged assault suspect Ravin Nath, who allegedly attacked his wife with a cane knife in Tokovuci Settlement, Lautoka last week.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said Mr Nath was still admitted at the Lautoka Hospital from injuries he sustained while trying to hurt himself.

Ms Naisoro said Mr Nath was under police guard and in a stable condition.

She added Mr Nath's 38-year-old wife was still in critical condition.

According to police, the victim was alleged to have been struck several times with a cane knife after a heated argument.

Meanwhile, investigations continue into the death of 24-year-old Mosheem Hakeem, who was allegedly killed in a car crash in Korovuto, Nadi over the weekend.

Ms Naisoro said a post-mortem examination would be conducted on the victim later this week.
