Collaboration required for awareness

Update: 6:45PM COLLABORATIVE efforts between cancer-fighting organisations will see that information on cancer services and awareness is provided to the public on World Cancer Day this Saturday.

The Fiji Cancer Society, Walk on Walk Strong Kids Fiji, Suva Golden Oldies Rugby Club, Medical Services Pacific, Fiji Albinism Project and Colgate Palmolive have come into an association this year to ensure that the public are well informed of the risks of cancer and preventative measures that is to be taken to reduce the chances of acquiring the deadly disease.

Fiji Cancer Society chief executive officer Belinda Chan said they will celebrate World Cancer Day at Sukuna Park where they will have information booths on the types of cancers, services provided, where to go, what are the symptoms and the preventative measures to be taken.

"On the day we will have information booths set up as well as games ,refreshments and a blood drive for the hospital," she said.

"After all it's all about raising awareness and providing the necessary information to the public."
