Education necessary for women

Monday, January 29, 2018

Update: 6:26PM EDUCATION for women to help them gain the confidence to report incidents of violence is necessary.

A talanoa session for women representing various faiths discussed that education was necessary to eliminate violence against women in the country.

The talanoa was organised by the House of Sarah, a non-governmental organization operating under the Anglican Churchs Diocese of Polynesia.

House of Sarah gender specialist Tupou Vere said these girls and women carry the pain on their own.

"We have found that women and girls tend to think that this is a normal routine in their relationship or its a shame that keeps them from sharing what's taking place," Ms Vere said.

"Its important to gather together and share our common thoughts on how we could address his further and thats one of our hopes in this time."
