Tiko transferred out of Education

Update: 6:10PM PERMANENT Secretary for Education Iowane Tiko has been transferred to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

At a press conference which concluded this past hour, the minister responsible for education, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the Public Service Commission makes assesments before it effects movements within the civil service.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum explained that feedback on the performance of a PS is required from the officers line ministry before a transfer is made and confirmed having given this to the PSC.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said Alison Burchell, who is originally from South Africa now becomes the P.S for Education. 

A statement from the Vishnu Mohan, the chairperson of the PSC which came in after the AG's press conference formally announced the transfers.

Mr Iowane Tiko is a trained teacher and career civil servant.
