A Sydney Harbour Bridge walk to remember

Josefa Makaba In Sydney, Australia

IF you are a visitor to Sydney, Australia, you must make an effort to visit the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge and experience an iconic image of the city.

While this is my fifth visit to Sydney, Wednesday afternoon was my first time at the 183m long bridge nicknamed the "Coathanger".

The height of the bridge when walking on the walkway from the North Shore to the Sydney CBD is not for the faint-hearted.

Looking down at the ships passing under the bridge can confirm to you while it was only 134m in height from the top of the water to the top of bridge, it is the biggest bridge in this part of the world.

It was also the world's widest long-span bridge, at 48.8m (160ft) wide, until construction of the new Port Mann Bridge in Vancouver, Canada, was completed in 2012.

Standing at the middle of the bridge you have a good view of the city of Sydney and its surroundings.

The walk from the North Shore end of the bridge to the other side took me and my friend Jonacani Lalakobau about 35 minutes.

I was so tired after the long tiring walk that I told Jona, I am so thirsty I need a cold one ... but for that you have to figure out what I meant.
