THE Jet Runners Club of Nadi plans to hold a four-race series, creating awareness on climate change later in the year.

Club president Abhinesh Kumar met officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and minister Laisenia Tuitubou in Nadi on Thursday to discuss plans for the year.

Kumar said he had been advised to work on documentation and present it to the ministry for assessment.

"This year we are planning bigger and better things," Kumar said.

"We hope to start in March with a five-kilometre run at Churchill Park in Lautoka. Hopefully, the tracks will be available. The plan is to keep the momentum following for the long distance events.

"We are planning for a climate change series. This will be a 5km road race. As part of the event, we will also be planting trees.

"The first of the series is scheduled for Sigatoka in April. The next one will be in May in Lautoka, followed by Ba in June and ending in July in Nadi.

"For this, we hope to get as many school children involved as possible."

Kumar said the short course runs will be held in August in various venues.
