Stock market records $591,929 new orders

AN energetic week of market activity was recorded on the trading platform with 458,501 shares traded in 25 transactions garnering $1.9 million in consideration.

In its weekly trading summary yesterday, South Pacific Stock Exchange highlighted that the trading statistics were inclusive of a one-off transaction recorded for VB Holdings Ltd shares whereby 356,285 shares totaling $1,603,283 in value was executed between two related parties via a special crossing trade.

It said $591,929 worth of new orders was recorded on the orders platform this week with sell orders ranking higher at 51.16 per cent mainly because of the entry of certain sell orders for Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Ltd, Vision Investments Ltd, FMF Foods Ltd, Paradise Beverages Fiji Ltd and Fiji Television Ltd.

According to SPSE, given the recent demand from buy side investors, the entry of sell orders for selected stocks this week presents an opportunity to prospective investors to enquire with licensed stockbrokers and purchase shares in these companies based on your individual investment objectives.

As a result of the various positive share price movements the overall market value rose at a new highest value of $1,914,196,652, an increase of 2.67 per cent ($49,836,770).

Other securities also traded on the stock market included Free Bird Institute Ltd (FBL), Toyota Tsusho (South Sea) Ltd (TTS), VB Holdings Ltd (VBH) and Fijian Holdings Ltd (FHL).
